Child & Youth Programs

Kids can play while you enjoy our YMCA facility programs and services!
At the YMCA of Greater Moncton, we believe healthy families are happy families. To help parents with their fitness and well-being goals, the Y offers an onsite Child Minding program for children ages six months to 12 years of age. YMCA Child Minding is a great way for parents to use the facility while knowing their little ones are also having fun being cared for by qualified staff.
Bring your child to celebrate their birthday at the YMCA of Greater Moncton – either our main location, the YMCA Vaughan Harvey (30 War Veterans Ave.) or the YMCA Moncton North (70 Twin Oaks Dr.)!
Birthdays at the YMCA Vaughan Harvey
Invite up to 15 friends for birthday fun at the Y! Kids will have access to the main gym where they can play with tons of fun toys, sports equipment and even the bouncy house! You will also access to our Community Room for your party. Bring your own cake, snacks and decorations!
Parties can be booked at the YMCA Vaughan Harvey for:
- Saturdays from 2:30 pm-4:30 pm (2:30-3:30 pm gym; 3:30-4:30 pm Community Room)

Birthdays at the YMCA Moncton North
Celebrate your child’s birthday at the new YMCA Moncton North! Kids can invite up to 15 friends and have access to our AWESOME indoor splash pad and playground! After one hour of splish-splash fun, kids head to our Community Room, which you can decorate and where you can bring cake, snacks and have more fun!
Parties can be booked at the YMCA Moncton North for:
- Saturdays and Sundays: 11 am-1 pm or 2:30-4:30 pm.

Community Room – North End


The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course offers basic first aid, safety, and childcare skills for youth 11 – 15. Participants learn to take care of infants, toddlers, and school-aged children, and about the fun, challenging, and rewarding world of babysitting.
Cost: $45 (Members); $75 (Non-Members)
What to bring: Doll or teddy bear and your lunch
Take Homes: Babysitting Workbook with Basic First Aid Guide; Completion Certificate
PLEASE NOTE: Pre-registration is required. This course is currently offered in English only.
The Canadian Red Cross Stay Safe! Course offers basic first aid and safety skills for youth 9 – 13. Participants learn to be safe when they are without direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult, both at home and in their communities.

Youth Basketball (ages 5 – 12)
This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball to children, with the option for free play towards the end of each session.
Bring a friend for drop-in badminton!
Pickleball is a fun racquet sport for players of all levels. Similar to badminton or tennis, players use solid square racquets to hit a perforated ball over a net. Invented in the 1960s, pickleball has exploded in popularity. Come join us to play one of North America’s fastest growing sports!
Shotokan Karate – a non-contact, simulation-based karate – is a great way to get fit while learning important life skills like self-defence, discipline, and respect for self and others. This program for members aged 7+ is led by a trained instructor. Class activities help build strength, power and speed.
Other information:
- Ages: 7+ (YMCA membership required)
- Fee: $45 per year, for Y members only. (Additional fee covers association and insurance costs.)
- Grading: $35 (optional)
- Uniform: Uniforms can be purchased through the instructor. While they are not required for the class, uniforms are necessary to be graded for a class. Cost of uniforms are $40 to $60 each, depending on size)

Structured – one hour session (parent participation required). These sessions are designed to keep your toddler or preschoolers active with a focus on healthy kid development. Ages 2 – 5
Balls, hoops and ride-on toys are just some of the fun activities that little ones can look forward to during Play Pal sessions. Active play develops gross motor skills, strong muscles and healthy hearts. YMCA Play Pals is a great place for little ones and their parents to make new friends!

When children have the opportunity to learn a wide range of physical activities, they feel more confident. Through Y Kids Move, children learn skills by engaging in a variety of sports and games.
Come join in the fun for a full hour dedicated to tween zone! Lots of fun pool games, activities and access to the climbing wall!
Golf, for ages 7 – 9 or 10 – 12
Learn the basics of the sport with our YMCA coaches with the help of First Tee and Golf Canada. These programs are modified for indoor instruction and designed to fit the needs of children and youth from 7 to 12, no matter their skill level!
Dance, groove, sing, boogie, wiggle, and skip! This 45-minute program is made for toddlers to get up and move while developing a love for music. Parent participation is required.
Paper, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, paper plates, and more; follow along with our educators to create something wonderful you can share with your friends and family, or make your own masterpiece while making memories! Parent participation is required.
