Volunteer Postings

Good things happen when everyone in our community feels a sense of belonging and connection. A vibrant, healthy community offers opportunities for everyone. At the YMCA, that often means stepping forward with a new program or service to address specific and unique needs in the communities we serve. It may also mean reaching out, beyond our walls, to deliver programs where they are needed most.

Reporting to the Aquatics Director, the role of the Learn to Swim Assistant is to support the aquatic team in the delivery of learn to swim programs.

Reporting to the Fitness Centre Director, this position is responsible for supervision of the Fitness Centre and all related duties.

YMCA Fitness Instructors are recognized across Canada. Employers and fitness leaders look for the YMCA Seal of Approval. The YMCA offers you the opportunity to obtain a certification in Group Fitness and Personal Training.

We are looking for outgoing people who can be role model peer mentors. Mentors will have weekly one-on-one or group meetings with their mentees, acting in a supportive role to help youth gain a greater awareness of the next steps after high-school and to boost the necessary skills to take those steps. This may involve discussions around aspirations, coping skills, and academic preparedness. Mentors may also help guide the mentees through the challenges of transitioning between high school and post-secondary and the process of applying to post-secondary.

Mentors will engage in activities that both parties enjoy, provide academic support in homework clubs, aid in goal setting, and help build educational resiliency. They may also give guided post-secondary tours (virtual or online).
