Child & Youth Programs

From paints to pastels, there are lots of mediums to chose from to create your own masterpiece and express yourself! Follow along with our craft of the day, or use your own imagination to bring your creative vision to life.
For children ages 2 – 12 years. Parents/guardians must remain in the program space for those under 5 years old. Parents/guardians must remain in the facility for those who are 5-12 years of age.

Learn some of the fundamentals of basketball, such as dribbling, shooting & passing, with our staff as they guide youth through various skill building drills. Before the program ends, youth will have the option to put their newly acquired skills to the test with a friendly game against one another.

Bring your child & their friends to celebrate their birthday in style at the YMCA of Greater Moncton! You can choose between either our main location, the YMCA Vaughan Harvey (30 War Veterans Ave.) or the YMCA Moncton North (70 Twin Oaks Dr.), depending on the play space you are interested in. Bookings can be done over on our Activities page, and are first come, first served!

Community Room – North End


Please note:
- Adults who are not members of the YMCA will be required to provide a government-issued photo ID to access the gym during the party. All non-members must have their photo taken and saved in our database before entering our facility.
- The party capacity is for youth, and does not include parents, guardians or chaperones. If you would like to invite more than 15 youth, there is an additional charge per youth.
At the YMCA of Greater Moncton, we believe healthy families are happy families. To help parents achieve their fitness and well-being goals, the Y offers an onsite Childminding program for children ages six months to 12 years of age. Be it a fitness course in the gym, swimming a few laps of the pool, or even just spending time in our lounge enjoying a snack from our Café. Kids can play while you have peace of mind to enjoy our YMCA facility, programs and services!

Golf, for ages 7 – 12
Learn the basics of golf with us through our partnership with First Tee & Golf Canada. This program offers indoor instruction on putting & driving in a safe, controlled environment, and is tailored to fit the needs of youth, no matter their skill level!
Parents/guardians must remain in the facility while their child(ren) participate with this program.

Jr Ultimate Frisbee is a where youth will learn and practice their Ultimate skills, ranging from the basics of throwing to offensive & defensive strategies. Each session will focus on a different aspect of the game, with a drill designed to help participants master that week’s topic. Every session will conclude with all participants breaking up into teams and playing a scrimmage, putting all their skills and abilities they learned into practice within a game setting.
For youth aged 11 – 18 years. Parents/guardians must remain at the field if their child(ren) are 11 years of age.
This is an outdoor summer program, and is subject to be cancelled due to weather if required. Please be sure to check out our schedule to find out which days this program may be available.
Shotokan Karate – a non-contact, simulation-based karate – is a great way to get fit while learning important life skills like self-defence, discipline, and respect for self and others. This program is led by a trained instructors & volunteers, with each class designed to help build your strength, power and speed.

Balls, hoops and ride-on toys are just some of the fun activities that little ones can look forward to during this open gym time program. Active play helps develop gross motor skills, strong muscles and healthy hearts, so come join us & make new some friends!

Learn the skills associated with the sport of soccer with us each week as participants take part in drills designed to develop their skills. Each day there will be a different technique to learn before putting that knowledge to use with a scrimmage.

Tween Zone is a fun Friday night drop-in for ages 8-12. For only $6 per child, participants enjoy games, gymnasium time, and fun in our swimming pool under the supervision of our amazing YMCA staff.
Tween Zone takes place every Friday from 5:00pm to 9:30pm. Parents must drop off and pick up their child through a sign-in/sign-out process with staff. All participants are required to take a swim test to access our main pool and therapy pool. If they cannot pass the swim test they are able to have fun in our play pool! Participants are responsible for bringing their own towel and swim cap.
When youth have the opportunity to learn a wide range of physical activities, they feel more confident. Through participation in this program, youth can develop new skills through engagement in a variety of sports and games.

Our YMCA is able to offer two youth courses in collaboration with the Canadian Red Cross – Babysitting & Stay Safe. Dates for the courses will vary, but all available dates can be found over on our Activities page, which can also be used to register your youth for the course.

Please note:
- Each course is schedule to include a morning and afternoon break, as well as a 30-minute lunch. Youth are encouraged to bring a lunch, snacks & water bottle with them.
- Each course also comes with a course booklet, which participants will be able to take home with them at the conclusion of the course.
- In order to receive a certification at the end of the course, youth will have to demonstrate various first aid skills, participate in group discussions & activities, show respect to one another, and show a level of maturity throughout each topic discussed.
- At this time, both courses are only available with English instruction, but there are French course booklets available.
