YMCA of Greater Moncton to close until further notice
(Moncton, January 5, 2021) – The YMCA of Greater Moncton will close both of their fitness facilities as of end of business today based on the decision of the province of New Brunswick to revert the entire province to the Orange Alert Level due to the recent increase of positive COVID-19 cases. We will remain closed until we return to the Yellow Alert Level.
“We have made this difficult decision because this is the right thing to do.” said YMCA of Greater Moncton CEO Zane Korytko. “The best thing we can do at this point to keep our members, staff and community safe is to limit places where people gather. We are hopeful the community will follow the instructions of officials regarding all precautions to help slow the spread of this disease. As we did during our first COVID closure, all memberships will be ‘frozen’ as of January 6, 2021. No funds will be removed from our member’s accounts during this closure. We will update our members as soon as we have more information.”
The closure affects the YMCA’s Health, Fitness and Aquatics Centres at our 30 War Veterans location as well as our new YMCA Moncton North location. Our Adult Day, Alternative to Suspension, Plus One and YCAN programs will continue to operate. Our ReConnect outreach program will continue to serve our community’s most vulnerable citizens.
Our Childcare center and Afterschool program remain open.
