(MONCTON – October 26, 2022) – The YMCA of Greater Moncton is seeking nominations for its 2022 Peace Medallion.
“We all have opportunities each day to choose to act for peace. They may be small actions, but they make a big difference. This award recognizes the achievements of individuals or groups who – without any special resources – act for peace and build community by promoting a sense of belonging, fostering empathy and embracing diversity,” says Jaime MacLellan, Director of Community and Global Initiatives with the YMCA of Greater Moncton. “We’re asking the community for help in identifying those involved in peacemaking initiatives in local or international communities.”
Since 1987, the YMCA Peace Medallion has been granted by Ys across Canada as a reminder that a more peaceful world is possible, community by community, and that everyone’s efforts are necessary.
Deadline to submit YMCA Peace Medallion nominations is November 4. Full details on nomination criteria and how to submit a nomination are available at www.ymcamoncton.ca.
