(Moncton, September 7, 2021) – The YMCA of Greater Moncton has announced they will be hosting a youth advisory committee at the North End YMCA. Youth between the ages of 12-25 can apply.

The purpose of the Youth Advisory Committee is to encourage youth to become decision makers and continue to offer up to date programming that benefits the needs of the community. The youth council will ensure that the YMCA will continue to feel like a safe and accessible space for children and youth.

Some of the youth’s responsibilities will be to plan two events per term that bring focus to youth programs and the power of youth voices, and bringing awareness about the importance of contribution from youth to other generations. Committee members will also help plan and execute YMCA fundraisers with funds raised supporting existing YMCA programs. This will encourage youth involvement in philanthropy, while supporting the YMCA as a charitable organization.

The Youth Advisory Committee will also be responsible to hold forums with youth at the YMCA’s to hear what they want for programming, and bring findings back to the Board of Directors and Management of the YMCA.

This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in your community and make decisions.

To apply, please email your resume and expression of interest to Nicole.wry@ymcamoncton.ca by September 19 2021.
