Moncton, NB – Aug. 21, 2024 – The YMCA of Greater Moncton is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the annual YMCA PEACE Medallions. This prestigious recognition celebrates individuals and groups within our community who embody the values of PEACE: Participation, Empathy, Advocacy, Community, and Empowerment.
The PEACE Medallions are inspired by the acts of PEACE that take place year-round at our global partner, YMCA Risaralda, in Colombia. YMCA Risaralda works tirelessly to promote peace through its programming, focusing on women’s and children’s rights, inclusivity, and community empowerment.
“Each year, we are humbled by the incredible stories of those who act for PEACE in Greater Moncton,” said Hannah LaPointe, Senior Director, Community Initiatives & Fund Development at the YMCA of Greater Moncton. “These awards shine a spotlight on those whose contributions often go unrecognized but have a profound impact on the lives of others.”
The selection committee, made up of community members, will review all nominations and select this year’s recipients. Winners will be honored at our annual event this fall. Event details to be announced at a later date.
