(Moncton, March 23, 2022) – The ‘Air Trivia Controllers’ took home the 2022 Battle of the Brains championship title Saturday, March 19, 2022.

The YMCA of Greater Moncton hosted the 19th annual Battle of the Brains trivia challenge in support of its ReConnect Street Intervention Program, which helps individuals who are experiencing homelessness or at risk. While the exact tally is still being finalized, close to $15,000 was raised Saturday.

114 participants from 19 teams battled for first place, but the Air Trivia Controllers will hold the championship title with their second consecutive win.

“We’re very happy to bring this fundraiser back and it was great to see so many out for an evening to support the ReConnect program, while having a great time.” Says ReConnect’s Trevor Goodwin. “I’d like to thank everyone who played a role in the events success from the participants to the volunteers & sponsors.”

Emceed by New Country 96.9 FM’s Scotty Horsman, this year’s Battle of the Brains teams made up of four to six participants compete for bragging rights and a coveted, wrestling-style championship belt.

The winning Air Trivia Controllers from Nav Canada consisted of Mike Oxner, Derek Dakin, Shawn Meikle, Shawn Murphy, Darren Rose and Rob LeClair

Each team’s performance was scored by a panel of judges that included YMCA Foundation Board members Alan MacLellan, Alan Mongraw and Nadine Leger and New Country 96.9 FM’s Tony Smith.
