The YMCA of Greater Moncton will close both of their fitness facilities as of January 6, 2021 based on the decision of the province of New Brunswick to revert the entire province to the Orange Alert Level due to the recent increase of positive COVID-19 cases.  We will remain closed until we return to the Yellow Alert Level

(Moncton, N.B. - Feb. 12, 2018) To mark New Brunswick’s inaugural Family Day next Monday, Feb. 19, the YMCA of Greater Moncton will be open free to the public.

“The Y is the perfect place for you and your kids to have some healthy fun on Family Day!” says YMCA of Greater Moncton CEO Zane Korytko. “These days, most of us spend too much time in front of screens and too little time face to face. We encourage everyone to disconnect from their devices and enjoy some quality time together. Whether you’re looking to spend time with toddlers, teens, grandparents or friends, we’ll have something for everyone so come laugh, play and make some memories.”

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, the YMCA will offer a special schedule of family activities and fitness classes in place of its usual schedule. (Regularly scheduled group fitness classes, child minding, child and youth programming and swim lessons will not take place.)

The Family Day schedule will include:

Family Play Pals: 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Our main gym will be filled with a wide range of activities designed to build skills, create smiles and burn some energy, too!
Public Swim 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Bring your bathing suits, a swim cap and jump in! Our spacious, heated, indoor swimming pools are perfect for the whole family.

In addition, the Y will offer the following fitness classes, open to adults as well as children 10 or 11 (accompanied by a parent) and those 12 and up who have the permission of the class instructor:

Cyclefit: 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: This fun, indoor bike class is set to energetic music and mimics a variety of road rides. Bring water and a towel!
Centergy: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: With uplifting music to accompany a combination of yoga and Pilates poses, this class will help stretch muscles, center energy and reduce stress.
Group Power: Noon to 1:00 p.m.: This is a 60-minute barbell program that strengthens major muscle groups in an inspiring, motivating group environment.

Non-members will be required to show a piece of government-issued photo ID at the Membership Services Desk to access fitness classes and pools during Family Day. Those wishing to use a locker at the Y may wish to bring a lock.

Tours of the YMCA, located at 30 War Veterans Ave., will also be available during Family Day. The Y houses a large multi-purpose swimming pool, therapy pool and play pool, a multi-purpose gym, studio room and fitness centre, as well as childcare, after-school care, educational courses and many other community development programs.

The YMCA of Greater Moncton is a registered charity dedicated to building healthy communities. Its focus on inclusiveness and accessibility means it serves people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities through all stages of life.
