(Moncton, March 1, 2019) – There's still time to register a team for the YMCA of Greater Moncton’s 18th annual YMCA Battle of the Brains trivia extravaganza happening Saturday, March 23, at 7 pm in the Y’s main gym.
“This has been a particularly challenging year in regards to homelessness in Greater Moncton,” says Cathy Manuel, who is coordinating this year’s YMCA Battle of the Brains. “Proceeds from the Battle of the Brains event go to the Y’s ReConnect Street Intervention Program, which provides vital outreach services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk. Put a team together for this fun trivia night and help the Y make a difference!”
During Battle of the Brains, teams of four to six players collectively answer 10 rounds of trivia questions dealing with a wide range of topics. Past categories have included everything from art and music to brands and game shows. A panel of judges scores each team’s performance and a referee is on hand to ensure a fair contest.
“In addition to bragging rights and the knowledge you’ve helped a very worthwhile cause, the winning team receives a snazzy, wrestling-style championship belt!” says Manuel. “Register today and be a part of a really fun community event.”
Last year, The Resurgonauts – a team from the City of Moncton’s Resurgo Place – walked away with top spot.
Radio stations C103 and New Country 96.9 are presenting this year’s Battle of the Brains. New Country 96.9 morning show co-host Scotty Horsman will emcee the fun.
Team registration for Battle of the Brains is $600. Registration forms are available at the YMCA or on the Y’s website www.ymcamoncton.ca under ‘Events’.
Sponsors for the 2019 Battle of the Brains include New Country 96.9 FM, C103 and Inspiration Design.
