YMCA of Greater Moncton Recognizes Local Community Builders
Moncton, NB: At the annual YMCA of Greater Moncton Peace Breakfast this morning, three deserving recipients were awarded the Y’s 2016 Peace Medallion. The ceremony is a highlight of YMCA Peace Week, a national event, which takes place from November 19-26.
“We are so honoured to recognize the kind and giving individuals who are recipients of this year’s YMCA Peace Medallion,” says Bonnie MacFadyen, Vice President, Philanthropy and Volunteer Development. “It was a full house this morning, a testament to the generous spirit of our community in not only recognizing the hard work of others but in celebrating the importance of creating peace in our communities.”
Keynote speaker, Lisa Gallagher, received a standing ovation as she congratulated recipients and shared her inspirational message of hope when tragedy occurs.
Meet our 2016 Peace Medallion Recipients!
The Peace Medallions are presented to individuals and groups who, without any special resources, status, wealth or position, have demonstrated a commitment to the YMCA values of PEACE through contributions made within their local, national or global community. The recipients were nominated by individuals in their community.
This year’s recipients were recognized for their community-mindedness and for their commitment to YMCA values of PEACE - Participation, Empathy, Advocacy, Community and Empowerment.
