‘The Resurgonauts’—a team from the City of Moncton’s Resurgo Place—took top spot at Saturday’s Battle of the Brains, an annual trivial challenge held in support of the YMCA of Greater Moncton.
“We sincerely appreciate the fantastic effort by teams in terms of their participation and fundraising, and the amazing community support we have for this event every year,” says MacFadyen.
A total of $10,500 was raised in this year’s Battle of the Brains, with $150,000 collected through the event since it began in 2002. All money raised goes to the YMCA’s ReConnect Street Intervention Program.
Hosted once again by the City of Moncton’s Director of Economic Development, Kevin Silliker, this year’s Brains’ contest saw 21 teams comprised of a total of 126 participants compete for bragging rights and a coveted, wrestling-style championship belt.
Employees from area businesses as well as groups of friends and neighbors made up teams at this year’s competition. Among the corporate groups were those from IGT, Tangerine, the City of Moncton, Asurion, Pepsi, Moneris, Concentrix, Omista, NBCC, New Country 96.9 FM, C103, Bingham Law, Nav Canada, and Probation Services. A non-corporate team called the Academic Assassins returned this year and have participated in every Brains’ Battle since its inception.
Event sponsors included New Country 96.9 FM, C103, and Inspiration Design. Supporters included Sonic Image Audio Visual, Bob Lee Productions, and Sobeys Vaughan Harvey.
