Junior Leadership Program

The Junior Leadership program is an extension of our School-Age summer program for youth between the ages of 12 to 15. The program will feature a variety of weekly workshops that will teach youth valuable communication, work readiness, and healthy lifestyle skills. Youth enrolled in the Junior leadership summer program will have daily peer mentoring opportunities and gain valuable hands on leadership experience, while learning to implement the YMCA core values; Integrity, Inclusiveness, and Fun, into all that they do.

Junior Leadership will be held at the YMCA of Greater Moncton: 30 War Veterans Avenue, NB; and YMCA North End: 70 Twin Oaks Drive, Moncton, NB. Junior Leaders will be expected to have transportation to each location.

Registration is online at our member portal. Registration is not confirmed until all registration forms have been completed and dropped off at 30 War Veterans Avenue, with Kyle Price. Forms can only be dropped off on Wednesdays or Fridays between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Once your registration has been completed with payment, you will receive an email from kyle.price@ymcamoncton.ca with paperwork. Only once all paperwork is received and reviewed will you then receive a final confirmation email.

Drop off begins at 8:00 AM where the program supervisor will be ready to greet you and the Junior Leader. Junior Leaders are expected to arrive between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM. Pick-ups will begin at 4:15 PM, and Junior Leaders must be picked-up by 4:30 PM. A late pick-up fee of $10 will be charged for every quarter hour (15 minutes) after this time.

Youth may be registered for more than one week.

An intention of the Junior Leadership Program is to prepare youth aged 12 to 15 for the workforce. Our workshops are designed with work-readiness in mind, and are aimed at improving the overall well-being of our youth program attendees.

Week 1: Basic First Aid & CPR

Broken down into steps; we will be giving youth an introduction to first aid so that they are confident in their ability to help during an emergency.

Week 2: Conflict Resolution and Mental Health Awareness

Youth will be taught about how to handle conflicts with friends, family, and co-workers, and become aware of mental health issues affecting post-pandemic children and youth.

Week 3: Resume Writing and Interview Readiness

Prepare for the workforce by learning to write a resume and prepare for your first interview.

The cost for Junior Leadership is $175/week for members, $200/week for non-members, which includes a membership to the YMCA.
