POOL CLOSURE: The YMCA of Greater Moncton aquatic centre (all pools) will be closed for annual maintenance until 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 24. We apologize for any inconvenience.

In May 2015, YMCA employees Liora Naroditsky, Noah Benoit and Ashley Ward spent four weeks visiting our partner Y in Risaralda, Colombia. While immersing themselves in the welcoming Colombian culture, they trained volunteers and helped to empower the many children and youth who rely on the Y's important community programming. It was an eye opening experience for the trio, who saw firsthand the difference that Y programs make to the quality of life of young Colombians, most of whom live in poverty.

Like YMCAs across the globe, volunteers play a significant role in the value and delivery of programming in their communities. In Risaralda, Y youth programs use arts, theatre and humour to tackle important issues such as citizens' rights and sexual health. As a result of the YMCA of Greater Moncton's partnership support, Liora, Noah and Ashley believe the lives of Risaralda volunteers and youth have been greatly enriched. "We're all citizens of this planet," says Liora. "Through this wonderful opportunity to share our knowledge and skills, we have been able to make a meaningful difference for decades to come. It was a very rewarding experience to work with the YMCA in Risaralda."
