(Monday, January 15, 2018) – The YMCA of Greater Moncton has space available in its new Splashers swim class for babies aged one and two years of age.

“Splashers is the first level of our YMCA L'il Dipper program and is a great way to introduce young children to the water,” says Joey Doucet, YMCA Aquatic Program Director. “Parents or guardians participate with their babies in the pool with the goal of being comfortable in the water together and eventually to have babies splashing with their arms and legs.”

Splashers is led by a certified YMCA swim instructor who creates a fun, stimulating environment for the children through songs, games and play. Through the course, adults gain water safety education and babies develop skills through assisted front and back floats, front and back tows with a buoyant aid, bubble blowing and getting their faces wet.

Classes began last week but space is still available in sessions held at different times throughout the week. The 30-minute classes run weekly for Y members. Since YMCA swim lessons are progression-based, families can enrol anytime.
